Rocket Man’s Mission Accomplished.
Kim Jong-un (Rocket Man) never fails to surprise us. After fervently pursuing better and better nuclear prowess even in the face of severe international pressure last year, he’s suddenly decided something astounding: North Korea has no need for further nuclear or missile tests!
The notorious dictator further proclaimed that North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs have ensured strategic stability and peace. Their goal is achieved. Hence, there is no need for anymore nuclear or missile tests. Beginning from April 21, 2018, ‘nuclear tests and Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) tests will be discontinued’, Korean Central News Agency specified.
The news came as a relief in light of the ever-intensifying situation in the Global Theater. Following the most recent North Korean missile test in November, North Korea claimed to have tested a new type of ICBM that could reach the whole of continental United States.
In response, Donald Trump responded in a tweet “ North Korea has agreed to suspend all Nuclear Tests and close up a major test site,” he tweeted. “This is very good news for North Korea and the World – big progress! Look forward to our Summit”.
The ruling party upon declaring its new policy reassured: “will never use nuclear weapons, unless there is nuclear threat or nuclear provocation to our country, and in no case we will proliferate nuclear weapons and nuclear technology.”
This unexpected development is particularly intriguing, as both Kim Jong-un and the South Korean president Moon Jae-in are to meet in the demilitarized zone later this month. An Inter-Korea Summit of this sort hasn’t taken place in over a decade. The North Korean leader is also expected to meet with Donald Trump in May, thus it shouldn’t be wrong to assume that Kim Jong-Un might use this as card to ease down tensions and crippling sanctions upon his country.
Most have taken this step positively but skeptics echo all sorts of questions. North Korea invested a lot of coin and blood to get this far in nuclear weapons after all. Would they actually ever let go of her love affair with Weapons of Mass Destruction? Is Kim Jong-un playing a bluff? What more strings are attached in this momentous leap forward? Because whatever happens, in a world so heavily influenced by corporate media, there is certainly more than what meets the eye.
